Construction site for Via Santa Margherita and Piazza Ferrari, Milan

The construction site for the redevelopment of the area around the Teatro della Scala in Milan is progressing well.

The project, designed by Freyrie Flores Architettura and MIC-HUB, and financed by Ardian, will give back to pedestrians a safe, quality public space in the heart of the historic city centre.

This will be achieved through the extension and redistribution of space and a revision of the vehicular road system in the area of Via Santa Margherita and Piazza Paolo Ferrari.

The public realm renovation project includes new, wider pavements in Via Santa Margherita, replacing the asphalt with new paving and new lighting in Vicolo Malagodi. The area in front of the historic Teatro Filodrammatici in Piazza Ferrari will be upgraded and pedestrianised to welcome new users.

Enhancing the pedestrian experience, the regeneration project fosters sustainable change in Milan.
