The redevelopment work on Milan’s Piazza Cordusio is about to get underway
The final design for the redevelopment of Piazza Cordusio in the centre of Milan was unveiled today at a press conference held at Palazzo Marino.
The project, by Freyrie Flores Architettura, MIC-HUB and Esa Engineering, aims to revive the former grandeur of the public space to match the recent refurbishment of the buildings around the square.
The project will make the square more pedestrian friendly: the existing pedestrian island will be widened and vehicle transit through the square will be largely restricted, with only trams allowed to pass through the main pedestrian flow. The same will happen in Via Dante, where the tram stops will be improved and integrated with bicycle stations, while in Via Orefici the southern pavement will be widened up to Piazza Duomo.
The Piazza Cordusio redevelopment project is ready to start with construction work earmarked for May 2025.
