Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park Detroit
Detroit

Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park will be a key element in revitalising the waterfront and creating a dynamic new interface between the Detroit River and the city, offering visitors a diverse and engaging waterfront experience.
The Park will become a key part of the revitalization of the Downtown area by linking elements that are currently disconnected. It will become a new virtuous model to be replicated in other areas of the city.
MIC-HUB worked with the multi-disciplinary team, led by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates Inc, to study the traffic impacts on the area and the multi-modal connections to the park.

Our contribution
Developing a set of equitable and complimentary means of accessing the new park MIC-HUB wanted to create a both local and regional destination by maximizing the use of the existing infrastructure.
The proposal, developed by MIC-HUB, for West Jefferson Avenue, the main route that run along the Park, aims to provide an equitable and comprehensive mobility network within the site by increasing accessibility and enhancing the permeability of the street grid.
The proposed strategy is to favour the virtuous environment transforming West Jefferson Avenue into a multimodal boulevard that prioritizes pedestrians, cyclists and transit by refining a permeable space directly connected to the Park and the river.
